The Winter 2010 Contest Series Has Arrived

As usual, all you have to do is show up to at least 7 out of the 8 events and you will absolutely, for sure get a prize. It really is that simple.

This time we are NOT doing a sponsored division. What that means for you is there are that many more prizes for you to win. Monster Energy, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Ipath Footwear, and Given Skateboards are all pitching in, and hopefully there will be more to add.

IT STARTS FEBRUARY 23rd, and it is still only $5.

WHO'S IN THE FINALS

BLADE LIFE: An Interview with David Sizemore

First and foremost, I want to set the record straight. In spite of whatever misconceptions are out there and the nonsense that the message board trolls have to say, in your own words, who is David Sizemore?

I am one of 327 David Sizemores in the U.S.

Do you simply just let the haters hate, or does this ever really get to you?

I try not to let the hate on message boards get to me personally, but I do try to at least hearwhat the people have to say. While....

ONE rollerblading magazine did an interview on our own David Sizemore. For those that do not know David, maybe this will give you a little perspective into exactly who David is in the world of rollerblading...

Skatepark of Tampa hosted the Harvest Jam...Apparently Joey skated amazing. The story I hear is that everybody was going absolutely crazy! He took 1st place (again). He has been on a

huge run lately.

Also right up there was Solomon - he finished in 2nd place throwing down another huge run.

In the 9-12 division, William had a strong showing taking 1st place as well.

By now, you should also know William's dad, Graham. If you don't, he will be the one at every contest that is going crazy anytime any kid lands a trick. It doesn't matter who it is. It seems like every park gets a big kick out of his antics.

The Skatepark of Greenville hosted the Ho Ho Ho Contest. Let's see....

Joey got 1st in street and mini in the sponsored division. Niko got 1st in sponsored bowl and 2nd in sponsored mini. Lachlan got 1st in intermediate street, mini, and bowl! Shanewreck got 2nd in intermediate mini, 2nd in intermediate bowl, and 3rd in intermediate street. Grant

Stavas got 2nd in intermediate street. Ryan Parrott got 2nd in sponsored street...I'll put up the rest of the results once I know what they are - I know I'm missing a few.

I think I am going to go ahead and call it right now - it is going to be a big year for Joey. After his impressive performance at Bangers for Bucks, the guys at Ergophobia have decided to pick him up. And this isn't some little flow deal. ERGO has Joey sitting at AM status! This is sure to open up a few doors.

Here are a couple of sequences of Joey skating with the ERGO guys at Skatepark of Tampa. The first is a switch 270 on the hip. The other is a blunt 180 on that weird bank to wall.

Fletcher just accepted an invite to be a part of the Gatorade Ambassador Program (basically Gatorade's Flow program) for 2010. It is a fairly new program for them that they started this past year, and according to them it is a fairly exclusive group with only about 15 invites being involved - with about half of those skaters and the other half BMX riders. Obviously, that makes this a pretty exclusive group. They said some of their recent skaters included Anthony Shetler.

There really is not that much information out about this yet since it is a new program. Once it gets rolling full force, I will be putting up more information.

Having trouble getting down some of the ramps? Can't quite figure out your kickflips? It doesn't matter what it is, we can teach you.

JJ Patterson will be the main instructor. He has been doing camps and lessons with us since we opened. Along with him will be some other locals that have been helping us out for years.

Each day, you get two hours of instruction, free food, and another 4 hours of open skate...is any babysitter going to be able to offer you that?

4 Week Best Trick Contest Series

EVERYBODY WINS A DECK

EVERYBODY WINS A DECK

EVERYBODY WINS A DECK

Very simple concept. It's a best trick contest. We'll still pick a winner each week, but winning doesn't really have a benefit because all the prizes are the same. That's right: whether you're first or last, all you have to do is show up for each of the 4 weeks, and you will win a deck.

It is only $5 to enter the contest. So, do the math: that's $20 for a new deck...

Here are the dates for the contest: May 24, June 1, June 8, June 22

Lewis from 99X needs our help. CLICK HERE to view the video they threw together for the Rob Dyrdek Journey Acriss the Internet video contest.

Watch it and vote for it....over and over! 99X needs as many votes as they can get. If 99X wins the overall contest, they get some sort of crazy prize, and you can bet that, if that happens, Progressive will be part of it. Get to work now.

Here are some preliminary results:

Finishing in 1st place and being awarded the trip of a lifetime is Cody Campbell! He raised $4,446.50 - incredible. Right behind him was Ben Workman with $4,254.67. Lucky for Ben, though, we were able to pull a few strings and put him alongside Cody for the trip considering he breached the $4,000 mark! How is that for a surprise? Ben Clabby was in a

close 3rd raising $3,934.00! And due to Ben Workman getting bumped up to a grand prize, Ben Clabby will be going to Woodward for free. Following these guys are Colby Brooks, Rob Stone, Jack Stone, Lachlan Johnson, Kyle Register,Greyson Beal, Shanewreck, and Bailey Schriner. Each of these guys will be awarded the trip to Eastern Skateboard Supply to skate for the weekend. On top of this, they will be escorted by Kris Markovich.

Money is still rolling in, and we have already passed the $20,000 mark! Even better is the fact that we still have to host the Kona event. Huge thanks to all those involved. What you all have done is something truly amazing. There are a lot of people out there that cannot thank you enough for your efforts (including myself).

There will be more details to come after the Kona event has been wrapped up. Stay tuned...

Date: Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Registration/warm up: 4-6pm

The floor will be closed to only those registered for the contest.

Hometown Heroes is coming back.

You see all the sponsors, and that means one thing: the prizes are going to be crazy. HH does not disappoint here. Last year, they gave out a ton of stuff.

Also, Chipotle will be here ready and willing to give away a couple hundred of the best burritos you will ever eat.

Remember, if you win, you get to go skate the finals at the X-Games in the presence of the biggest pros on Earth. Simply put, this is not a contest you want to miss.

SKATERS SAVING SECOND BASE UPDATE

Mike and Jamie met up with Mike Rogers from Grind for Life in California while there for ASR.

On behalf of everyone that participated in the event this year, Mike handed over a check for $7,500.00 to Grind for Life to be used at their discretion. This should go a long way to help out.

IPATH REMODELS BATHROOM

In an effort to be a little more environmentally conscious, we teamed up with Ipath to install two new waterless urinals and a low-flow toilet.

Together, this new eco-friendly environment featuring bamboo floors and some cool artwork will save in excess of 100,000 gallons of water each year.

CLICK HERE to check out the little story Ipath did to cover this one-of-a-kind project they took on.
