Best Trick Contest Series

Alright. This one works just like the last one: two kids qualify for the finals from each division each week. Each week, you'll skate a different obstacle. It may be the Euro, might be the podium, or anything else. Who knows? Then, the eight people from each division that have pre-qualified over the weeks will skate a final in which you'll five spots. Your scores from that night will determine your overall placing. There will be awards for the top 4 in each division.

Click HERE to see how it went down.

You got to watch this. Our guy Lewis at 99X arranged for Rob Dyrdek to come down to the station and film a little video. One the line was a trip to the X Games for Lewis!

They came up with a little basketball game, but instead of basketballs, they used balloons full of syrup, butter-balls, and all kinds of other stuff.

There's also a chance to win a board autographed by Rob.

Mattel hooked us up with a TON of fingerboards to give away. As long as you are under 14, all you have to do is ask , and we will be happy to give you one.

Wow - the show Niko put on at the Triple Threat Contest in Las Vegas was amazing!

During the mini ramp portion, he did a kickflip Rock & Roll and a blunt to fakie extension. In the Vert contest, he was pulling 360s with a variety of different grabs. Gay twist indys, hurricanes, backside & frontside disasters, boardslides - all parts of his infinite bag of tricks

He wound up getting a little hurt right before the vert competition, but it didn't matter. It takes a lot more than a shot to the ribs to put him out.

He took 1st place in the mini ramp. He took 2nd place in the bowl. And he took 1st place in vert. This all added up to give him the ATV award.

Progressive Skatepark

finishes 5th at Top Shop

The guys skated great against some of the best in the nation and definitely made their presence known. Hopefully, we'll be able to make the voyage again next year and try to take the crown from the boys at Warp Skatepark.

The Grom Team went down and tore up the Spring Roll contest at Skatepark of Tampa. Niko came through in regular fashion taking 1st in the 8 and Under Division. Right behind him was Lachlan taking 3rd place and Shanewreck in 5th. William continued his dominance by taking 1st in the 9 - 12 division. Hannah skated the Girls division and took 2nd place. To put that in perspective, the girl that won was like

19 years old. Just imagine what she's gonna be like here in a few years. Big congrats to the groms for a clean sweep and showing why Progressive has the best grom team around.

Progressive Skatepark wins title as
King of Georgia

It was a perfect day at Brook Run Skatepark this past weekend, sunny skies and great skating.  Joey, Junior, Josh, Kyle and Niko threw it down all day against teams from all over the metro area. Each skater sessioned different parts of the park with Jr, Joey and Josh All finishing 2nd in each of their separate runs, but it was our boy Niko that showed everyone why he is the future of skateboarding. Niko had a flawless run in the bowl comp and took out everyone in his heat. The average age in his competition was around 21 years old. It was cool to see an 8 year old take them all out. With Niko's first place finish and three 2nd place finishes, the Progressive team finished first overall and was crowned The Kings of Georgia. Their hard work (if you can even call it that) paid off in the sum of $600.00 to be exact. Way to go guys.

Here's a pretty cool statistic:

It took 5 years, 2 months, and 6 days (or 1,893 days) to reach our 20,000th waiver! That was in late December. Since then we've already added hundreds more! It's pretty crazy when you think about it - on average, over 10 new people per day, every day for this long!

Tyler Gerren was the lucky #20,000. For his good timing, he got a new Progressive deck and got to skate for free. I wonder what we'll give away to #30,000...

fletcher_gatorade_1.JPG

Fletcher won the Gatorade Free Flow qualifier at Sixth Avenue Skatepark in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, July 11.

To win, he beat out a field of 68 skaters. Fletcher landed a 360 heelflip and a kickflip fs feeble in his jam just to name a couple of the hammers.

What's even crazier is this is his second time winning this contest - obviously not an easy feat. He took the event last year in Florence, Kentucky.

To check out the official website, click HERE, and you'll find a few highlights of Fletcher.

Also, click HERE, to read the press release from the event. Its got pretty decent interview with Fletcher.

HERE is some video coverage, too.

Fletcher takes 13th at AM Getting Paid

Fletcher is at it again: the weekend of July 25, Fletcher was in Montreal, Canada skating the AM Getting Paid contest. There were over 100 skaters in the contest, and he was able to beat out most of him. This was huge for him! You can see from the bottom right picture that he had some coverage, and - in addition - it looks like he might be picking up some new sponsors. He left Montreal to head for LA for the Hometown Heroes contest...

This past Tuesday a group of us attended the Atlanta stop for the Vans Warped Tour. It was a great day of meeting up with old friends, listening to some good music, and seeing some crazy skating on the mini ramp. This year was better than most, though, because of someone I met. His name is Rob Dyer, and he's a guy on a mission. He has a passion that you don't see in most people. Like me, Rob hates cancer, and he has devoted his life to making people aware of it. He is a true inspiration to me, and you should check out his story. It really is unbelievable to see someone his age so committed to a project.

HERE is a link to his site.

Shane and Lachlan went to the Attack of the Groms Contest at Woodward, and they dominated. Shane took first. Lachlan took second. I am loving these pictures...but can you expect anything else when you give a handful of cash to and eight year old?

And here they are again...Shane and Lachlan made the trip to Skatepark of Tampa for the School is Out Jam. Shane takes gold with Lachlan at his heals placing 2nd. These kids are machines.

UPDATE:

So maybe you read below that Fletcher placed 13th at AM Getting Paid in Montreal, Canada. Well, for his hard work, he now finds himself riding flow for Zoo York. And let me be the first to tell you - in this economy, picking up a flow deal is not easy. Big props to Fletcher on this.

Also, HERE is a highlight video of some of the tricks he threw down at the comp. And it doesn't end there either - click HERE to see where he had a little interview from the people organizing the event.

Shanewreck stopped by at the Orlando City Skatepark after skating another contest. In usual fashion, he took first place. If you have ever been to this park, you know that it is full of huge stuff - not too easy of a park to skate. Congrats to Shane on another win.

Another Woodward contest:

1st:  Lachlan Johnson

2nd: Shane Farber

3rd: Koan Hernandez

Another sweep by the boys from Progressive.

Fletcher got to go skate the Hometown Heroes Finals at the X Games in Los Angeles. He was up against some of the top Ams in the whole country.

Joey got another ad with Fuel Clothing. Check out Joey's profile to see it along with all of the rest.

Mini ramp contest at Woodward was fun...Shane and Lachlan both skated Intermediate and were definitely the youngest out there. I mean, look at the size of the kids they are standing next to. Shane took 2nd place and Lachlan was right behind him in 3rd.

Hannah skated Beginner and took out all the boys. That is right: 1st place.
