The 2009/2010 King of the Grom Finals were held at 3rd Lair on the weekend of February 19. Progressive was represented by a handful of our grom team riders as well as a few of the locals. Remember, KOTG features Bowl, Mini, and Street for Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. All the results can be read HERE. And other pictures and videos can be found HERE:

Here's how things shaped out for the locals:

Lucas Campbell finished 3rd in beginner street.

Grant Stavas finished 9th in intermediate mini, and 8th in intermediate street.

Blue Wilson finished 7th in intermediate street.

Caleb Sentz finished 9th in intermediate street.

And here's how our grom team finished:

Hannah Chumley finished 9th in beginner bowl.

Lachlan Johnson finished 8th in intermediate bowl.

Shane Farber finished 4th in intermediate mini.

Jack Stone finished 10th in intermediate street.

William Penniman finished 9th in expert street.

For the Advanced group, Cory, Fletcher, John Stone, Niko, Ryan Parrott, Barrett, amd Zeke Logan advanced to the finals.  (I think this is correct and hopefully I didn't miss anyone). Fletcher finished 1st, and Cory took 2nd.

The crew from Progressive showed up to the Woodward 'Park Shark' Street Contest last night.  There were two levels, Intermediate and Advanced.  Both groups skated a 5 minute jam session and the winner of each jam advanced to the final jam.

For the Intermediate group, Noah, Lachlan and Shanewreck advanced to the finals along with 4 other kids. Noah finished 1st. Shanewreck took 2nd. Lachlan got 3rd.

A few of the guys on the team recently got some national coverage on FuelTV's Weekly Update.

Check out the videos to see our riders at the KOTG finals and Bangers for Bucks.

Joey is all over Grind King's site right now. It's all about the sequences: he's got stuff from Bangers for Bucks and Skatepark of Tampa along with a little bio. Check it out HERE. This is a couple of times now that Grind King has put up a big story on Joey. How much longer you think it will it be before the Joey P. pro truck comes out?

For those of you that missed the RVCA demo...it was a good one. There were a ton of tricks I have never seen before. I do not understand how Leo Romero managed to crook across the up rail in the middle section. May not sound hard until I say he was going the other direction. Yeah, he went crook across and then down the handrail! That's about a 3 foot high ollie for someone that's 5'4'' at best. Cory Kennedy went to work on the hips and put down a switch big heel down the double set (first try, of course). Julian Davidson tore apart the whole part. He had tricks everywhere. I could go on and on, but, instead, just CLICK HERE and watch the footage.

RVCA DEMO

For the first time ever, we had a Progressive Team Demo. With all the damage the guys have dealt at contests over the past year, we figured it was just about time to really showcase their talent. Everyone that showed up was treated to a hoard of bangers all over the course. Off the top of my head, I remember Kyle doing a half cab nosegrind 180 on the podium, Niko did BS 540s on the big qtr like it was nothing, Cory had a 270 board to reg on the up rail in the center section, Joey did a switch 270 board to reg on the new handrail...the list goes on. Be sure to check out the VIDEO.

Progressive Team Demo

Hopefully you have gotten to know Travis Glover by now. He was on the Bangers for Bucks team with us as our newest team member, and this will show you why. There is a lot of hype on Travis now and things only look like they will get better from here.

Look for Travis again when Progressive travels to Minnesota for Top Shop.

Shanewreck has absolutely been blowing it up. It seems like every contest he goes to, he comes back with a win. It amazes me every time I watch him skate because he is learning new tricks by the handful.

Shane is sponsored by Celtic Skateboards, and they sent me this little video at Hot Spot Skatepark. When was the last time you saw a 50 pound little kid doing kickflips out of grinds? Enjoy.

Shane went up to Hotspot skatepark in Spartanburg, SC to skate in The Gene Stancil Skate for Cancer Benefit...for those of you who have not skated Hotspot, you should check it out. It is a fun concrete park with a great street course.  It was a jam format broken into heats of four skaters.  Shanewreck packed his four minute heat with some huge tricks and did enough to bring home 1st place....$50 and some other great prizes.  It was a fun contest that raised some money for a great cause. Speaking of great causes....does everyone have their sponsors ready for the Second Annual Skaters Saving Second Base?

Fletcher and  Alex Longcamp competed in the "Best Damn Shop Contest"  this past weekend which is a 2 man team comp. They finished 4th out of 24 teams from all over the East Coast.

You have to watch highlights for the whole event HERE. It is amazing! This contest seriously took skateboarding to a new level. I have NEVER seen skating like this at a not-pro contest. It looks like Fletcher and Alex were by

far the youngest in the finals. Also make sure to watch the highlights from Fletcher and Alex HERE.

In addition, Fletcher also took 2nd in the best trick. Check out everything else HERE.

Plex just put out their flyer for skate camp. The funny part, though, is the kid on the left boardsliding down the handrail. Yep, that is Shanewreck!

I think he has been there one time for a contest, yet he still manages to make it inside their media circle.

I guess when you skate (and win) contests all the time, this is the kind of thing that ultimately happens.

Also, see how he is wearing the progressive shirt. Let me take the time to mention that if you are ever in a contest and you also happen to be repping our shirt, just send the photo this way. We will be sure to post it.

FLETCHER WINS FREE FLOW STOP

Every year it seems like Fletcher kills this contest. He beat out some of the best at this year's stop at Hazard. With the win, he is awarded a free trip to the Dew Tour Stop in Salt Lake City to skate in the Free Flow Finals this September.  This is the 3rd time Fletcher has qualified for the finals. The first year, he missed the stop due to an injury. Last year at the finals, he missed the

cut for the final round by only two spots. I think this year we can have high hopes. Be sure to check out the video full of highlights.

In other news, Niko skated the 14-21 year old and still managed to get 4th place - a pretty amazing accomplishment considering he's only 10. Also, Caleb Sentz finished an impressive 3rd place for 13 and younger.

FLETCHER IN ESPN

So this is pretty crazy...I was flipping through what is probably the biggest issue of ESPN for the year, and as I start to get bored of all the soccer stuff, I come across this! Fletcher was right at the top of the page for the action sports articles thanks to Gatorade. The best part is he did not even know he was being featured. Total surprise!

WOODWARD, PA KING OF THE GROM QUALIFIER

Shane and Lach were at Woodward for the first KOTG qualifier of the year. And based on the picture, I am sure you can tell they killed it. Bowl, mini, and street - they owned it all. And thanks to all the sponsors, they are walking away with about a years worth of goods.

GATORADE FREE FLOW

Shanewreck took the win for the 13 and under division at GFF at 6th Avenue Skatepark in Nashville. Pretty impressive that a 10 year old is able to take out competition years older than him. Right behind him in 2nd was local Grayson Beal. From what I hear, he had a pretty nasty run himself.

At Flow Park in Ohio, Caleb Sentz did just the same. He left everybody behind in 13 and under and walked away with the win.

At the Hazard stop, Fletcher took first place in 14 and up. Behind him was Niko in 4th.

The Ledger did a story on us regarding the Skaters Saving Second Base Fund Raiser. And I got to say - they did a great job with it. Click HERE to check it out.

niko_mike_v.jpg

Everybody remember Mike V.? He was at Woodward doing a little demo and Niko was a big part of the show. I saw a few of the highlights from that day, and it was pretty well Mike V. getting a trick then Niko getting a trick.

It has been crazy to watch what Niko has gone from since the time I met him when he was 3 years old doing little ollies off curbs.

I mean, if he is doing 4 foot airs out of vert ramps and lipslides down handrails at 10, what will he be throwing at 15...

CLICK HERE for a couple of highlights.

VANS WARPED TOUR MINI RAMP CONTEST

Niko skated the mini ramp contest and took 2nd! These contests normally have around 30 people show up, and just about every one of them are a lot older.

When he walked over to the Vans tent to claim him prize, the guy seemed pretty stunned when Niko walked up for 2nd place. He got $150 cash along with a few other prizes for his efforts.

Maybe next year he will be able to dethrone Blake...

TNT hosted the 2nd annual Heat Stroke Jam. If you remember Joey killed this contest last year, so everybody knew who to look for. There was a lot of competition, but in the end, the reigning champ kept his title. Congrats to Joey on a 2nd straight win.
